It does not require a master’s degree or being the smartest in your class, just a love for cooking and a mindset to achieve your goal. To some it is a job; something they do to earn an income. To others, it is a passion; a hobby they have enjoyed their entire life. From line chefs, to pastry chefs, there are many different types of chef’s in the culinary industry. Some work in small restaurants located in tiny towns. Others work in large chain hotels on tropical islands in the Caribbean.
Chefs in Thalappakatti are handpicked. When we say handpicked, its not about their qualifications but, it is about how authentic they could cook and how they could retain the flavours of South India. Our aim is to keep our food very real, south Indian and authentic. In a world filled with fast food generation, we want to promote the goodness of our classical dishes and mainly want to make it available for everyone around the world to have an access to their food. More than addressing them as chefs at Thalappakatti, They are more of a family and Thalappakatti is more of a community.
For this Chef day, we would like to appreciate our most valuable chef, Gopal Master. He has worked with us for 43 years in India. He is one of our most dedicated, talented and efficient chefs. We all have our favourite chefs. From our mom to our grandmoms or even our friend. Thank them for making food a comfort and appreciate them for what they do because, every day is a chef day!
